Winchester, MA (June 1, 2016) – Lahey Health Director of Value Analysis Supply Chain Gerald “Jerry” Taylor was recently honored with the Marit Davies Memorial Award by the Yankee Alliance, a nation-wide collaborative health care group purchasing organization. The award, which has been given since 2010, is named in memory of Marit Davies, who passed away from ALS and was the director of Materials Management at Winchester Hospital for 16 years.

The Marit Davies Memorial Award recognizes an individual who has exhibited innovative thinking, a passion for implementation, and leadership in the pursuit of healthcare supply chain excellence.

“When I was just breaking into the industry with an entry-level storeroom job at Winchester Hospital, Marit was instrumental in my development,” Taylor said. “She helped sharpen my skill set.”

The award brought Taylor’s and Davies relationship full circle.

“I worked closely with Marit for almost 15 years, transitioning through her illness and eventually becoming director of Materials Management,” Taylor said. “I remain grateful for her mentorship. Receiving this award was emotional to me as an individual. Marit was a futuristic thinker. She focused not just on products but also on that products impact on practices.”

When Winchester Hospital affiliated with Lahey Health, Taylor transitioned again to become director of Value Analysis Supply Chain. In this new role, he was tasked with developing an infrastructure for a collaborative approach among clinicians, suppliers, finance representatives and more.

At Lahey, we are collaborating to formulate a value analysis structure that balances cost, quality and patient outcomes. This triple aim assures patients of high-quality, affordable care,” Taylor said.

Taylor received the honor at the 29th Annual Meeting and Reunion for Yankee Alliance, held on
May 16, 2016. Yankee Alliance staff members nominate deserving candidates and select the winner. Awards are designed to note accomplishments in reducing supply chain costs, performance excellence through leadership and engagement with other members.
