Winchester Hospital Medical Staff Offers Scholarship to Local Residents
The Winchester Hospital Medical and Allied Health Professional Staff is pleased to announce the establishment of the Winchester Hospital Medical Staff Scholarship. Three $2,000 scholarships will be awarded this year to candidates pursuing a career in the health sciences.
One scholarship will be awarded to a child of a Winchester Hospital employee, a second will be given to a junior volunteer at Winchester Hospital and the third recipient will be a high school student who resides within the primary service area of Winchester Hospital (Billerica, Burlington, Malden, Medford, North Billerica, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, Tewksbury, Wakefield, Winchester, Wilmington or Woburn).
Candidates must complete the scholarship application form in its entirety. For candidates under the age of 18, the form must be signed by a parent or guardian. Candidates must also write an essay of no more than 600 words that answers the following questions:
Why are you interested in a career in health science?
What experiences, if any have you had in your desired field of study?
What do you know about your chosen field of study?
Why do you think you would be successful in this field?
How would you put this scholarship money to use?

Candidates must also include a signed letter of recommendation in a sealed envelope addressed to the Scholarship Committee from a mentor, teacher, family physician or employer. This letter may be sent directly to the Winchester Hospital Medical Staff Office, Attn: P. Douglass at 41 Highland Ave, Winchester, MA 01890 or sent electronically from the writer to email@example.com.
The completed application, the essay and letter of recommendation must be received by the Winchester Hospital Medical Staff Office no later than May 1, 2014.
