Winchester Home Care Surpasses National and State Quality Measures
Winchester, Mass. – Winchester Home Care, a department of Winchester Hospital, has exceeded the national and state averages of nearly all home health quality measures recently collected by the Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
The patient data is gathered by observing patients and caregivers within the home. Home health care includes skilled nursing care, physical and occupational therapy, speech pathology, social services and home health aide services.
Winchester Home Care surpassed the national and state averages for patients who improve with walking or moving around; getting in and out of bed; bathing; bladder control; wound healing; taking medication correctly; decreased shortness of breath; less pain; and are able to stay at home following the conclusion of home health care.
Additionally, a smaller percentage of Winchester Home Care patients had to be admitted to the hospital (27 percent, compared to the 29 percent state and national averages).
“These results are directly related to Winchester Home Care’s commitment to performance improvement, as well as the high quality standards of our entire team,” said Winchester Home Care Executive Director Karen Keaney. “Our goal is to continuously sustain the highest level of quality care and service to all of our patients.”
