Winchester Hospital Offers Affordable Acupuncture Through New England School of Acupuncture Interns
Winchester, Mass. – Acupuncture has been proven to treat many physical conditions along with conventional care. Now affordable acupuncture services are available through Winchester Hospital in conjunction with the New England School of Acupuncture.

Acupuncture, an alternative therapy that promotes natural healing in the body, is proven to be effective in treating neurological ailments including migraines and nerve pain; stress, depression and other emotional distress; digestive problems such as indigestion, constipation and diarrhea; asthma, allergies and other respiratory ailments; back pain, arthritis and musculoskeletal pain; and acute sprains, chronic pain and physical injuries. Acupuncture is also effective for premenstrual syndrome, infertility, smoking cessation and other chronic ailments.

A typical session begins with a therapist identifying tension spots. The therapist then inserts acupuncture needles in various parts of the body and applies heat, followed by massage. The entire process, which some clients describe as so relaxing that they fall asleep, takes about an hour.

Students of the New England School of Acupuncture graduate with a Masters of Acupuncture degree after completing the three-year program. During the third year of study, students work as interns to complete a year of clinical training under the supervision of licensed acupuncturists. Winchester Hospital’s Community Health Institute offers the services of these interns on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Winchester Hospital’s Family Medical Center, 500 Salem St., Route 62 in Wilmington.

The fee for acupuncture treatments through this program is $40 for the initial visit and $35 for follow-up appointments. For more information or to make an appointment, call the Winchester Hospital Community Health Institute at (781) 756-4700.
