Arlan Fuller, MD, Gynecologic Oncology Specialist at Winchester Hospital, Presents at International Cancer Conference
Winchester, Mass. – Arlan F. Fuller Jr., MD, Winchester Hospital’s clinical vice president for the integration of oncology services and academic affiliations, was a featured speaker at the Cancer de Ovario conference (on ovarian cancer) which recently took place in Madrid, Spain.
Dr. Fuller discussed the surgical management of ovarian cancer and detection and treatment of recurrent disease. The presentation focused on the use of highly sensitive PET/CT scans, minimally invasive robotic surgery, and intraperitoneal therapy.
A resident of Winchester, Dr. Fuller is an accomplished physician with 30 years of experience in cancer treatment. Affiliated with Winchester Hospital since 1997, he practices at the Hematology and Oncology Center at 88 Montvale Avenue in Stoneham.
A prolific writer and sought-after speaker and instructor at worldwide venues, Dr. Fuller previously served as longtime chief of Massachusetts General Hospital’s Division of Gynecologic Oncology and clinical director of the gynecologic cancer program in its Cancer Center. The recipient of numerous awards and honors, he was a finalist for the Humanism in Medicine Award from Harvard Medical School in 2006.
Dr. Fuller earned his bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College and his medical degree with honors from Harvard Medical School. He completed an internship and residency in surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital; a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Boston Hospital for Women; and a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
Dr. Fuller’s extensive list of professional memberships include the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists; Society of Memorial Gynecologic Oncologists; American Medical Association; Massachusetts Medical Society; American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Obstetrical Society of Boston; New England Association of Gynecological Oncologists; American Society of Clinical Oncology; International Gynecological Cancer Society; American College of Surgeons; and European Society of Gynecologic Oncology.
