Winchester, Mass. – Several medical professionals from Winchester Hospital participated in the Society of Gastroenterology Nurse and Associates’ (SGNA) 36th Annual Course that took place recently in St. Louis, Mo.

Nurses Linda Corey, Kimberly Foley and Linda Wiebold, who work in Winchester Hospital’s Ambulatory Care Unit and Woburn-based Endoscopy Center, taught an advanced, hands-on workshop on conducting an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography, a complex procedure for relieving biliary obstruction due to gallstones or strictures. Foley is also a member of the SGNA Program Committee and vice speaker of its House of Delegates.

Denis Begos, MD presented “Colorectal Surgery in the 21st Century,” a broad overview of current and established practices and future trends in the field of colon and rectal surgery.

Andras Sandor, MD presented “Laparoscopic Weight Loss Surgery,” which described laparoscopic bariatric surgery and the minimization of morbidity and mortality rates.

“I am proud of these nurses and physicians for representing the Winchester Hospital medical community and sharing their knowledge and expertise at this national education forum,” said Kathy Schuler, vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Winchester Hospital.
