Kevin Smith Succeeds Dale Lodge as President and CEO of Winchester Hospital; Robby Robertson and Matthew Woods Promoted to Vice President
Winchester, Mass. – Kevin Smith has succeeded Dale Lodge as president and chief executive officer of Winchester Hospital in a succession plan announced by the hospital’s Board of Directors nearly two years ago. Smith was formerly executive vice president and chief financial officer. Lodge is now president and chief executive officer of Winchester Healthcare Management, the parent organization of the hospital and other subsidiaries.

“My time as president and CEO of Winchester Hospital has been the best job of my entire career,” said Lodge, who lives in Winchester. “Every day I have had the opportunity to work with the most dedicated, committed and hard working team to achieve some incredible things.”

During Lodge’s 10-year tenure as president and chief executive officer, Winchester Hospital achieved national recognition for nursing excellence through designation and re-designation as a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center; top employer awards from The Boston Globe and Boston Business Journal; and a national honor for clinical quality from Premier, Inc.

“It is with the utmost confidence that I pass the reigns to Kevin, whose in-depth knowledge of the health care industry and collaborative, engaging leadership style has earned my deepest respect and that of our senior management team, board members, medical staff, employees and volunteers,” Lodge added. “I know that Winchester Hospital will continue to excel under Kevin’s leadership and achieve the highest level of performance.”

“It is difficult to express how fortunate I feel to become president and CEO of Winchester Hospital,” said Smith, a resident of both Reading and Orleans who joined Winchester Hospital in 2001. “As I have stated many times and in many settings, our employees and physicians are the keys to our success. Together, we will continue to create a healthy future for our patients and communities.”

Winchester Hospital also has named two additions to its executive team. Robby Robertson is vice president of facilities and real estate services. Matthew Woods is vice president of finance, chief financial officer and treasurer.

Since joining Winchester Hospital 14 years ago, Robertson has been a leader in the strategic alignment of Winchester Hospital’s program growth by doubling the organization’s physical capacity to more than 700,000 square feet across 31 off-site locations. He has executive oversight of construction, facilities and real estate, telecommunications, security and transportation services.

Robertson is a member of the Stoneham Chamber of Commerce, National Fire Protection Association, American Society for Healthcare Engineering and New England Healthcare Engineers Society. He lives in Andover.

Woods has been an outstanding leader at Winchester Hospital for the past 10 years, consistently demonstrating the skills essential for financial stewardship. He has executive oversight of finance, information services, health information management and materials management.

Woods, who is a graduate of Providence College, is pursuing a master’s degree in health care administration at Simmons College. A resident of Burlington, he is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
