Winchester Hospital Physician Group Recognized for Outstanding Adult and Pediatric Care by Harvard Pilgrim Health Care
Winchester, Mass. — Harvard Pilgrim Health Care (HPHC) has awarded “Honor Roll with Distinction” status to the primary care physicians of the Highland Healthcare Associates Independent Physicians Association (IPA) who treat both adult and pediatric patients. This recognition, the highest awarded by HPHC, is part of its annual Honor Roll of physician groups that have consistently demonstrated outstanding commitment and excellence in patient care. The IPA is the only physician group in the HPHC network to earn this level of recognition for both adult and pediatric patients in each of the last three years.

The Highland Healthcare Associates IPA is one of just eight out of a total of 130 Local Care Units to achieve such outstanding performance in the 2009 review.

Physician performance is measured against national quality measures called HEDIS (Health Plan and Employer Data and Information Set). The HEDIS measures, which are set by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), is a tool used by most health plans in the United States to measure quality of health care. The IPA primary care physicians who treat adults scored at or above the national 90th percentile on all 16 HEDIS quality measures.

“We are extremely proud to be the only physician group to have achieved this tremendous recognition for both adult and pediatric care for three consecutive years,” said Nancy Sachetti, director of the Highland Healthcare Associates IPA, a physician organization representing 340 Winchester Hospital-affiliated physicians. The IPA and Winchester Hospital hold a contract with HPHC.

“This honor is validation that the care provided by our primary care physicians is indeed exceptional,” added IPA President Michele Crage, MD, who has been affiliated with Winchester Hospital since 1989. “The high quality of our medical professionals meets the stringent standards set by the HPHC, which mirror our own standard of excellence that we strive to meet each day.”
