Winchester Hospital Offers Free Parent Information Service for Expectant and New Parents
Winchester, Mass. — Expectant parents are faced with a bewildering range of pregnancy and parenting information from books, magazines, television and the well-meaning advice of friends and family. It’s difficult to know how to sort it all out. Now, maternity patients at Winchester Hospital have a resource to guide them through their pregnancy and the first year of their baby’s life: Parent Review.

This free, weekly e-mail service offers expectant and new parents customized information, news and resources from Winchester Hospital’s Community Health Institute. It also allows the hospital team to develop a more supportive relationship with patients.

“Our caring and attentive nurses are fantastic at coaching women through childbirth in the delivery room, but the education must begin much earlier in the pregnancy,” said Suzanne Murphy, director of maternal child health services at Winchester Hospital. “Our free Parent Review e-mail service provides another resource to support our new parents with answers to real questions and research findings that impact child development.”

Patients can sign up for Parent Review online at www.theparentreview.com/winchester and begin receiving weekly parenting e-mails at seven-week gestation. Messages are personalized according to the patient’s due date and continue for the first year of the baby’s life.

During pregnancy, e-mail messages include week-by-week information on fetal development, wellness tips and valuable resources. After the baby is born, messages offer child development information, practical tips on baby care, health and safety, and other topics of special interest to new parents. Winchester Hospital’s weekly parenting e-mail also provides brief reviews of the latest research on pregnancy and newborn issues in an easy-to-understand format.

For more information about the free Parent Review e-mail service, call Winchester Hospital’s Community Health Institute at (781) 756-4700.
