Winchester Hospital Updates Mission Statement for its Second Century
Winchester, Mass. – Opening its doors in 1912, Winchester Hospital has a long history of providing high-quality health care to thousands of area residents. As its centennial nears, the hospital is introducing a new mission statement: “To care. To heal. To excel. In service to our community.”
According to Mary Sweeney, vice president of planning, business development and communications at Winchester Hospital, the process of updating the mission statement began last fall with involvement from the hospital’s Board of Directors, Planning and Marketing Committee, Medical Executive Committee, corporators and employees. The former mission statement read, “To ensure that the highest quality health care continues to be delivered through the coordination of available resources for the purpose of improving the health of the communities we serve.”
“For me, the most gratifying part of the process was reading all the comments about what makes Winchester Hospital special. I believe we’ve encapsulated those sentiments in these few words,” Sweeney said. “A mission statement sets the tone and direction for an organization. This message captures the essence of any interaction that community members experience with us.”
