Winchester Hospital Appoints Donna Sherrill as Director of Maternal Child Health
Winchester, Mass. – Donna Sherrill, RN, BSN, MM, NE-BC has been named director of maternal child health at Winchester Hospital. In her new role, she is responsible for overseeing the hospital’s inpatient units (including pediatrics, labor and delivery, perinatology, the Mother Baby Unit, Special Care Nursery and Child Life Program), as well as taking a lead role in the strategic planning for women’s and children’s services.
A resident of Woburn, Sherrill joined the leadership team at Winchester Hospital in 2006 as the nurse manager of the Medical Oncology Department. In 2007, she became director of Magnet and special projects, leading her team to successful Magnet re-designation – the American Nurses Association’s highest honor for excellence in nursing – in 2008. More recently, she served as interim director of maternal child health, in addition to her Magnet role.
Sherrill earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville University and a Master in Management from Cambridge College. She is president of the Northeast Council of Nurse Executives, and a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and Massachusetts Organization of Nurse Executives Government Affairs Committee. A certified mediator, Sherrill has a certificate in Negotiations and Conflict Resolution.
“During our interview and evaluation process, it quickly became clear that Donna has the complete confidence of both our staff and our physician leaders in the maternal-child health areas,” said Kathy Schuler, MS, RN, NE-BC, vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer at Winchester Hospital. “She is a leader who has the vision and operational expertise to continue to move women’s services at Winchester Hospital into the future.”
