Each year, the Winchester Hospital Foundation coordinates special events to benefit our nonprofit community hospital – an annual golf tournament and an annual gala.

James F. McDonough, MD Golf Classic
Winchester Hospital’s annual James F. McDonough, M.D. Golf Classic took place on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Winchester Country Club.
Since its inception in 2004, the James F. McDonough, MD Golf Classic has been the main fundraising event for the McDonough Fund, which was established as a way for grateful community members to meaningfully memorialize the late James F. McDonough, MD.
Dr. McDonough was a much-admired Winchester Hospital physician known for his great appreciation and deep respect for the nursing profession. The McDonough Fund provides financial support to Winchester Hospital employees who have transitioned into registered nurse roles.
The McDonough Fund for Nursing Education has seen 33 graduates transition into RN roles. There are still another 10 working towards degrees.
Winchester Hospital is the first community hospital in Massachusetts to earn Magnet recognition, the American Nurses Association’s highest honor for nursing excellence.
A field of 132 golfers played on Monday, September 10, 2012, representing corporate sponsors, business, community and hospital leaders, and their guests. Golfers are invited to support the event at a variety of sponsorship levels. Sponsorships are offered from $10,000 to $250 and are available with or without golf included.

Annual Gala: One Shining Night
Winchester Hospital’s 10th annual One Shining Night Gala will be held on November 10, 2012 at the Westin Waterfront Hotel, one of Boston’s most elegant event venues.
Funds raised through the event will benefit our oncology patients in the hospital and the Breast Care Center as well as those receiving treatment at our recently opened, state-of-the-art Center for Cancer Care.
Cancer does not discriminate. It affects everyone, and having excellent care locally allows patients to be treated closer to home.
Winchester Hospital’s cancer program offers a team of physicians, nurses, therapists, dieticians and social workers, all committed to providing the highest level of clinical expertise combined with the utmost compassion and respect. We treat over 1,000 cancer patients annually.
Year after year, we at Winchester Hospital are humbled by the extraordinary show of support for this event. Guests are invited to support the annual One Shining Night Gala at the following sponsorship levels.
