CPR for Family and Friends
Learn rescue skills in CPR and chokesaving for adults, infants and children. Class meets one night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. This class is suitable for new parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. This is not a certification class.
Heartsaver AED and CPR
Learn rescue skills in CPR and choke-saving for adults, infants and children. This class meets for one night from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. This is a CPR certification course, and participants must pass a written exam and successfully complete a skills evaluation in CPR and chokesaving and AED rescue skills.
This class is suitable for daycare providers, fitness instructors, police, firefighters, security guards, lifeguards and anyone expected to perform CPR in the workplace.
Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers – Initial Certification
Learn CPR and chokesaving for adults, infants and children. Receive instruction in mouth-to-mask and bag-mask ventilation and automated external defibrillators (AEDs). This course is a prerequisite for the basic life support instructor course.
There are two ways to complete the course and obtain certification:
· From the comfort of your home, pass an online class that concludes with a written exam (approximately 45 minutes). Then successfully complete an in-person skills evaluation in CPR, AED and choke-saving (approximately 15 minutes), which is scheduled for a later date at the The Center for Healthy Living. Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers – Recertification
Please bring your current Basic Life Support (BLS) card or a copy to the class to give to the instructor. You must be current in BLS for health care providers in order to receive a new card.
Like the Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers initial certification, there are two ways to obtain recertification (see above). Infant and Child First Aid Classes
Be prepared to handle an injury of a child. Learn chokesaving and basic first aid skills for fractures, burns, seizures, fever and vomiting. This class meets one night from 6 to 10 p.m.
This is a certification course. Current CPR certification is required in order to become certified in first aid. You must bring your current CPR card to class.
Safety and First Aid Classes for Parents
This class begins with a video-based safety tour of your home that will help you to prevent injury by identifying common danger areas. Then we discuss common safety devices (i.e. locks and gates) and where to locate these items. Problem areas in your yard and protecting children at play are also reviewed.
The second part of the course is dedicated to common injuries and appropriate first aid, along with a discussion of more serious injuries and treatments. Instructors will demonstrate and, where appropriate, let the class members participate in first-aid techniques.
This class meets on one night from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Please note: CPR is NOT taught in this class.
This is a program designed to teach students the fundamentals of safety and child care. This course provides instruction on:
Treating basic first aid emergencies
Performing chokesaving procedures
How to enter the emergency medical system
Handling fire and safety emergencies
