Having a baby is one of life’s most exciting events, and Winchester Hospital is proud to have been providing exceptional care for new mothers and their babies for more than 100 years.

Whether you are having a low-risk pregnancy or are considered to have a high-risk pregnancy due to your age, other health conditions or because you are expecting multiple babies, Winchester Hospital has the maternity and childbirth services you need.

Winchester Hospital is considered one of the most prominent obstetrical facilities north of Boston and includes Maternal Fetal Medicine, the Labor and Delivery Unit, the Mother Baby Unit (where mothers and babies stay after delivery), the Special Care Nursery (should your baby need these services) and Pediatrics.

Our Services for Expectant Mothers

A team of obstetricians, maternal fetal medicine specialists, anesthesiologists and nurses work together to provide the best technology and personal care to achieve optimal pregnancy outcomes. Some specific procedures include:

  • Ultrasounds, including more in-depth level II ultrasounds

Our Maternal Newborn Services for Babies

Some of the neonatal complications cared for include premature birth, respiratory distress, infection and drug withdrawal symptoms. Some specific procedures include:

  • Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) to support breathing
  • High-flow nasal cannula oxygen
  • Needle thoracentesis
  • Chest tube placement
  • Pediatric EKG and echocardiography
  • Parenteral nutrition

  • Central line placement via umbilical catheter and PICC lines
  • Transfusion of blood products
