At Winchester Hospital, we understand that children need and deserve special attention when they are ill or injured. The pediatric staff at Winchester Hospital remains committed to providing high-quality care in a child-friendly setting by focusing on each child's unique needs while incorporating a family-centered care approach.
Every effort is made to involve parents or guardians in all aspects of a child's care. They are viewed as the members of a child's healthcare team who know their child best, and as advocates for the child’s health and wellbeing. This approach helps reduce the stress and anxiety of hospitalization.
Our partnership with Boston Children's Hospital means seamless access to the best pediatric specialists in the area. In addition, community affiliations with specialists in otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat), orthopedics and general surgery allow us to provide on-site care for most conditions requiring these services.

Our nurses are educated in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), ensuring the best care on all levels for your child. A parent or guardian is encouraged to stay overnight with the child during their inpatient stay.
In addition to the medical and nursing staff, the pediatric team includes dietitians, respiratory therapists, case managers, chaplains and lactation consultants. A pet therapy dog is also available to visit interested patients once per week.
The pediatric floor has a playroom that is equipped with games and art materials. Our staff also provides pre-operative tours for children scheduled for upcoming surgery.
Winchester Hospital is committed to making your child as comfortable as possible while at the hospital. Parents or guardians are encouraged to speak with the health care team if they would like to discuss any aspect of their child's hospital visit.
