Achieve a Healthy Level of Cardiac Fitness
Winchester Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Program provides much more than just a place to exercise. Our center offers structured, full-phase cardiac rehabilitation services designed to help you achieve a healthy level of cardiac fitness following:
- Bypass surgery
- Cardiac catheterization with angioplasty or stent placement
- Heart attack
- Stable angina
Our goal is to get you back to the activities and lifestyle you enjoy with confidence and security.
What We Offer
Screening/evaluation – During your first visit, you will be evaluated by our center’s medical director, a cardiologist who specializes in the rehabilitation of patients who have experienced a cardiac event.
Customized program to meet individual needs – After a thorough screening and evaluation, our medical director and staff will develop a customized plan that best fits your needs. We will consider your health condition and medical history, as well as your current level of conditioning, to develop exercise guidelines specifically for you.
Exercise – Following your personal guidelines, you will begin your cardiac exercise program under the supervision of qualified staff. Our staff will monitor your heart rate and rhythm using state-of-the-art telemetry. Your blood pressure will be closely monitored before, during and after each exercise session.
- Education – Our education seminars focus on all areas of lifestyle that can be modified in order to decrease your risk of future cardiac events. Topics include nutrition, stress management, independent exercise, angina, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease and coping skills. Support groups facilitated by our health psychologist are also available.
