Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a technique that delivers high amounts of oxygen to the body to promote healing. The Winchester Hospital Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Center proudly offers HBOT to help you heal.
About HBOT
Your body uses oxygen to nourish cells. The air you breathe is about 21% oxygen, and the rest is mostly nitrogen. HBOT is designed to increase the amount of oxygen you breathe to 100%, which can speed up the healing process.
When receiving HBOT treatment, you get to rest comfortably in a hyperbaric chamber, which is a pressurized, single-person chamber. You are under the supervision of a technician at all times. You can rest, sleep or watch television throughout the treatment, which lasts between one-and-a-half and two hours. This specialized therapy is not painful but requires a time commitment. Treatment may be given five times a week and may last for several weeks.
An Expert HBOT Team
Unlike some other hyperbaric centers, our staff has specialized, advanced training. We are accredited by the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society, a professional organization that represents physicians, nurses and technicians in this field.
Our accrediting society requires anyone working in hyperbarics to have at least 40 hours of training. Each of our physicians, nurses and technologists has completed this training course.
