Winchester Hospital Opens New Outpatient Center

Winchester Hospital has opened a new, state-of-the-art outpatient center conveniently located at 200 Unicorn Park Drive in Woburn. The Center is home to comprehensive imaging services, the Breast Care Center, The Center for Healthy Living and a specimen collection site, and was developed with a focus on the patient experience—ensuring advanced, comprehensive services in a convenient location, ample parking, and a full-time greeter in the main lobby.

“As stewards of this community’s health, it is our ongoing responsibility to provide the services and technology necessary to improve the health of area residents,” said Kevin Smith, President and CEO of Winchester Hospital. “The Outpatient Center at Unicorn Park is yet another example of that ongoing commitment,” he added.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is offered using the latest technology, which ensures the highest quality and clarity of images. The imaging service also boasts brand new computed tomography (CT) scanning equipment as well as digital X-ray, fluoroscopy (for arthrograms and joint injections) and ultrasound. “We are thrilled with the new imaging service at Unicorn Park. It allows us to provide the best diagnostics for our patients along with an outstanding experience,” said Robert Fortunato, MD, Winchester Hospital’s Chief of Radiology.

Winchester Hospital’s Breast Care Center will continue to offer its wide array of services in the new location. Services include digital mammography; breast ultrasound imaging and ultrasound guided breast biopsies; stereotactic breast biopsies; consultations with surgeons, medical oncologists and radiation oncologists; and genetic risk assessments—all at the same location. “Women travel great distances to come to our Breast Care Center because they know they will receive comprehensive and superior care in a compassionate and supportive environment,” said Delphine Lui, MD, Associate Medical Imaging Director of the Breast Care Center.

Winchester Hospital’s Center for Healthy Living offers a wide array of health and wellness programs and services. Kathleen Beyerman, RN, director of the Center for Healthy Living,says that there is something for everyone. “We offer classes and programs to help keep individuals healthy and well and doing what they enjoy most. Whether you’re trying to manage a chronic disease like diabetes or trying to stay in shape with a fitness class, our skilled clinicians and instructors are available to help you meet your personal goals,” said Beyerman. Services offered through the Center for Healthy Living include:  

  • Disease management programs include the anticoagulation clinic, diabetes center, pediatric asthma management, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congestive heart failure, pneumonia, my ocardial infarction and osteoporosis.
  • Childbirth and child care courses include lactation consultation, CPR and first aid for new parents, and more;
  • Integrative therapies include acupuncture, massage, hypnotherapy, Reiki, Tai Chi/Qi Gong, yoga;
  • Other classes and programs include fitness, smoking cessation, babysitting classes, lifesaving skills courses (CPR and first aid).
  • Support groups include diabetes, prostate cancer, nursing mothers group, and HOPE group.

The patient specimen collection site, located on the first floor of the building, offers a convenient location to patients needing blood drawn or other lab services. The collection site is open 8 a.m.to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
