Friends of Winchester Hospital Auxiliary

Giving time and financial support to the community

The Friends of Winchester

For more than 60 years, the Friends of Winchester Hospital  auxiliary group has given time and financial support to help make a positive difference in the lives of patients and their families.

Roses, Books and So Much More

Two of the group’s most unique projects are the Holiday Rose distribution and the Read to Me Program.

Holiday Roses

On Christmas Eve, the Friends hand-deliver a rose to every hospital patient. It is just one way we help brighten the season for people whose health prevents them from being at home.

Read To Me Program

The joy of reading is one of the greatest gifts you can share with a child. Since its inception in 1997, the Read To Me Program has given tens of thousands of storybooks to new parents to share with their newborns, as a way to emphasize the importance of reading to children.

How Are the Programs Funded?

The Friends of Winchester Hospital raise all funds to support these special projects through annual membership dues and donations. The group also sells handmade goods at its “Friendly Table,” part of the annual Winton Club Fair.

In addition to this, each December community members donate to the friends through the “Tree of Lights” fundraiser, in honor or remembrance of loved one.

Become a Friend

As a Friend, you get to enjoy a seasonal newsletter, volunteer badges and pins, various guest speakers at monthly auxiliary board meetings and the annual dinner meeting in May.

While many Friends also are volunteers at the hospital, volunteering is NOT required to become a Friend.

You can become an official member by filling out the form in our brochure and paying an annual fee of $5.
